This past month, Prescott Meals on Wheels proudly introduced a new delivery van that represents more than improved transportation. It represents the legacy of Ron Hutteron Hutter Sr., a devoted volunteer, loyal advocate, and cherished member of our Prescott Meals on Wheels family.
Ron served as a driver on the Delta Route every Wednesday. Week after week, he showed up with dedication, kindness, and a deep commitment to the neighbors he served. Ron understood that Meals on Wheels is about far more than delivering food. It is about connection, dignity, and making sure no one is forgotten.
Ron often drove one of our older vans, and he never missed an opportunity to challenge us in the best possible way. With a smile and a bit of good-natured honesty, he would remind us that we could do better and that our volunteers and neighbors deserved better. That challenge stayed with us.
Ron passed away in 2025, but his voice and spirit remain very much a part of our organization.
The van that now bears our Meals on Wheels branding was purchased in November and was recently wrapped with Prescott Meals on Wheels graphics. We were proud to officially debut the newly wrapped van at the Veterans Day Parade, sharing it with volunteers, supporters, and community members who make our work possible.
This new van is now ready for volunteers to use during daily deliveries. It will help us reach more neighbors safely and efficiently while ensuring meals arrive on time and with care. Every mile driven and every door knocked will carry forward Ron’s legacy of service and his belief that we can always strive to do better for the people we serve.
This vehicle will serve our community for years to come, touching countless lives through nutritious meals and compassionate care.
As this van rolls out onto Prescott’s streets, we do so in memory of Ron Hutter Sr. and in gratitude for the example he set. His dedication continues to inspire our volunteers, our staff, and our mission of neighbors feeding neighbors.
