receive a tax benefit
Transferring stocks as a gift to Prescott Meals on Wheels is a straightforward process. The IRS permits the transfer of appreciated stock to a non-profit organization without triggering capital gains tax on the appreciation. Eligible securities for transfer include publicly-traded stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares held for over one year. This arrangement enables donors to contribute more substantially to Meals on Wheels while also enjoying greater tax advantages. Essentially, by donating appreciated securities, you can amplify your contribution compared to cash donations and secure a more significant tax benefit in return.
